Evenwood Road Runners go from marathon running to ultra running as five members from the club take part in the 41st Lyke Wake Race on Sat 9th July.

It was a 6 am start for Phil Baxter, Glynn Frith and Donna Douthwaite. Two hours later at 8 am Ron Pounder and Neil Douthwaite were set off and chasing their club mates across 42 miles of moorland and having to report in at the checkpoints to have your disc stamped and also refuel and change clothing if required. Glynn Frith was the first to pull out at Eller beck checkpoint after 34 miles which he  completed in 8 hours 31 minutes, Phil Baxter was next to pull out after suffering from de-hydration and he also reached Eller beck check point in 10 hours 15 minutes.

First to complete the course was Ron Pounder in 8 hours 10 minutes for 9th position, Neil Douthwaite caught up with his wife Donna at Stape road check point  but Neil suffered from de-hydration, and Donna was able to continue on to Eller beck check point to refuel and then continue on to Jugger check point, Neil was able to refuel at Eller beck and continued on to close the gap, Neil caught up with Donna for the second time and they completed the rest of the course together, Neil crossing the finishing line in 8 hours 33 minutes for 17th position, and Donna in 10 hours 33 minutes for 43 rd position out of 100 runners.

Once again Evenwood road runners have been competing in the fifth race of the Blacksheep race series at Masham on the 2nd July

The junior road runners enjoyed themselves in the fun run where Demi Douthwaite led the club home in an excellent time of 17:54 for 26 position 2 places later was big sister Sarah in 18:30 to receive a prize for first girl u/14, Ruth Bracegirdle running well finished 1 second later for 29th position in 18:31 ,Helen Pounder 18:50 for 31st position, Kate Pounder 19:52 for 48th position and very surprised to have finished first girl u/16 ,Harry welsh 20:52 for 49th position Amy Bracegirdle 21:06 for 60 position ,Rebecca Johnston 21:59 for 66 position William Coatsworth still running strong finished ahead of his sisters in 24:36 for 87th position and Amy in 25 :30 for 91 position and Emily in 25:54 for 94 position Glyn Frith finished one place later for 25:46 from a field of 133 runners

Eight members of Evenwood Road runners travelled by coach, along with a merry band of spectators to make their annual pilgrimage to Beadnell  before running to Alnmouth in Northumberland coastal run on the 10th July,

First home over the 14 miles was Gary Atkinson with an impressive time and place of 1:24:53 for 7th position, fellow club mate Sean Glasper was next home in 1:45:28 for 149th position ,,next home and still able to keep fellow club mate at bay was Tony Hindmarch in 1:48:34 for 185 position ,retuning strong was Andrew Laybourn in 1:52:01 for 233 position ,next in was Kenneth Sams in 2:12:58 for 488 position, John Tully 2:20:08, club stalwart Alan Dickinson was next home in 2:50:09 for 689 position, despite forgetting his socks and suffering form sore feet Paul Vickers was able to complete the course in 2:59:44 for 697 position out of 703 runners
