A Medly of Races
Six Evenwood Road Runners completed the Coniston 14 Road Race. Gary Atkinson was the first home for the club in 1:24:54 for 49th place. Ron Pounder 1:50:23 in 437th pos. Phil Baxter 2:04:41 for 795th place, Dawn Ord 2:47:40 for 1317th position and Nicola Finch 1320th pos in a time of 2:48:22. Despite being late at the start Alan Dickinson had to work hard to catch the rest of his club mates up but was able to complete the course in a time of 3:06:19 in 1348th pos.
On Sunday 8th April two female members represented the club at North Tyneside 10k Dawn Ord was first home in 1:00:34 in a position of 1035, followed by Nicola Finch in 1:05:03 for 1201 position from a field of 1405 runners.
Gary Atkinson pounded the streets of London on the 22nd April in The Flora London Marathon recording a time of 3:19:54 in 2234th place.
At Leeds half Marathon Robert Mccloon brought the club home in 1:26:48 in 89th position followed by Kim Crowther for 295th place in a time of 1:58:08. Alan Morton completed the course in 1:58:08 for 1672 position. Dawn Ord recorded a time of 2:17:35 for 2258th place. Nicola Finch returned home in 2:25:17 for 2725th position and Alan Dickinson last but not least crossed the finishing line in a time of 2:48:17 for 2926th position.
On the 20th May two club members travelled to the Lake District to run 26 miles of undulating terrain. First home was Neil Douthwaite who completed his 13th Marathon in a time of 3:38:22 for 103rd position, Glynn Frith completed the 26 mile course and recorded a time of 5:19:56 for 858th position out of a feild of 1355 runners .

York Brass Monkey 2007
Members of Evenwood road runners travelled by
coach to York for the Brass Monkey half marathon on
the 21st January. Gary Atkinson brought the club
home in 46th position with a time of 1.21.53. Robert
McAloon was 97 seconds behind for 60th place in
1.22.50. Neil Douthwaite returned home in 1.30.52 in
183rd position. Kimberley Crowther returned strongly
in 1.31.19 for 192nd place. Sean Glasper completed
the course in 1.34.08 in 262nd position. Donna
Douthwaite and Andrew Laybourn both completed the 13
mile run together with Andy being a gentlemen
allowing the lady to finish first in 1.48.32 and
1.48.34 for 557th and 558th positions. John Tully
delighted with his time finished in 774th place 16
seconds under the 2 hour mark 1.59.44. Dawn Ord
pulled away from Nicola Finch towards the finishing
line in a time of 2.23.29 and 2.23.56 in 969 and
970th placing. Alan Dickinson supervet is still
holding on despite of his injurys and hanging up his
hat last year completed this years course in a
creditable time of 2.35.07 for 1005 place from a
field of 1010 finishers.
On Saturday 27th January the club held its annual
long distance run with a presentation dinner at the
Bridge Inn Ramshaw. Members of Evenwood road runners
were using this distance for there international run
on the 11th march in Cyprus. Travelling by bus from
Evenwood to Stanhope Neil, Glynn and Gary set off
first over 17 miles. Next to leave the bus at
Frostley was Tony, Andy, Sean, Kim, Robert and guest
runner Ian. Next to follow was Donna, Helen and
another guest runner Paul just outside of Frosterley.
Dawn and Alan Morton left the bus just out side of
Wolsingham. Alan Dickinson was last to leave the bus
and head for Ramshaw where there was a presentation
dinner awaiting them. Club Achiever was Alan
Dickinson for his years of service to the club and
Sean Glasper recevied the clubs Grand Prix award for
times gained over the last year. |
