Raby Castle
At the Raby Castle 10K on the 27th May Neil Douthwaite brought the Evenwood Road Runners home in 42:38 for 79th position, Alan Morton 52:08, 251st, Donna Douthwaite 53:01 268th, followed in by Sarah Douthwaite who completed this her second 10K in an outstanding time 57:53 for 325th position. Dawn Ord finished in 59 20 in 355th position. Nicola Finch 61:43 for 375th position Alan Dickinson 74:26 for 413th position.
The 5k event was enjoyed by family members from the club with Demi Douthwaite finishing in 28th place in a time of 26.24. Amiee Townsend ran with grandad Andrew Laybourn and both crossed the finishing line in 43.34 for 143 and 144th positions. Joshua Kay recorded a time of 45.32 for 145th place and little brother Jonathan Kay 47.30 in 149th position.
Allendale
Club members enjoyed the first Allendale 8 mile road race on the 2nd June. Neil Douthwaite led his fellow club mate’s home in 55.48 for 16th place. Donna Douthwaite completed the challenging course in 1.09.52 in 66th pos. Glynn Frith returned home in 1.15.50 in 86 pos. Helen Iceton completed this course in 1.16.27 for 88th position.
Blaydon
Evenwood Road Runners had an excellent turnout at the Blaydon road race on the 9th June. Gary Atkinson brought the club home in 34.54 in 105th place, followed in by Robert McAloon in 34.54 for 105th position. Not one, Not two but three Evenwood road runners sprint to the finishing line but Darren Fairclough got the better of Sean Glasper and Neil Douthwaite and finished in 38.38, 38.39 and 38.41 for 285th 287th and 288th positions . Andrew Laybourn 44.15 in 834th place and Donna Douthwaite 45.48 in 1018th pos. Glynn Frith 50.27 in1636th and Helen Iceton 51.26 in 1770th pos. Dawn Ord 53.42 for 2062nd place. Nicola Finch recorded a time of 55.28 and 2291st place. Alan Dickinson completed the course in 1. 07.01 For 3191st position.
Beamish
Evenwood road runners took up the challenge for the second time to outrun the tram at the Beamish 10k on Sunday 24th June. Darren Fairclough brought the club home in a time of 43.51 in 14th position, followed in by Neil Douthwaite in 21st position recording a time of 44.40. Donna Douthwaite returned in 53.28 for 96th place. Glynn Frith took 114th position and finished in a time of 56.03. Helen Iceton completed the tough challenge in 60 minutes and 24 seconds for 137th position out of a field of 169 runners.

CYPRUS
On Saturday the 10th March Evenwood Road Runners and their supporters headed to Cyprus to participate in the International events marathon, half-marathon and 10k.
On the 11th March three members from the club travelled to Petra tou Romiou (the Birthplace of Aphrodite goddess of love and beauty) to start their 26 mile journey to finish at the Pafos mediaeval Fort square.Starting at 8.30am after only a few hours sleep with the blue sky and the beating sun. The lads had a good first half then temperatures starting to rise up to 38c . Gary Atkinson was first to bring the lads home in 8th position in a time of 3:21:42, Followed by Neil Douthwaite in 3:52:07 taking 32nd position. Glynn Frith returned in 5:31:00 for 85th place out of 86 runners.Setting off 45 minutes later was the half marathon from the Harbour, it was a out and back course. Robert Mcaloon brought the club home in 1:27:00 in 8th position and received a trophy for second in his age category. Followed by Tony Hindmarch in 1:38:27 for 24th place also receiving a trophy for second place in his age category. Kimberley Crowther finished in 25th position in a time of 1:39:17 taking second place for her age category and 3rd lady overall and also receiving a trophy. Guest runner Nick Bellew making this his début at this distance recorded a time of 1:50:33 in 60th position. Six places later Andrew Laybourn returned in 1:52:52.Dawn Ord returned to the harbour in 2:18:09 for 126th place Donna Douthwaite finished in 2:31:52 in 159th position. Nicola Finch crossed the finishing post in 159th place in 2:38:33. And last but not leased was Jeffery Alan Dickinson in 161st pos recording a time of 2:45:27 from 169 runners
Setting off 15 minutes after the half-marathon runners was15 year old Sarah Douthwaite who was the only Evenwood Road Runner to take part in the 10k event. This being her first 10k distance Sarah ran a out and back course from the harbour and returned home in a time of 1:05:47 for 98th position out of 138 runners. well done. |
