On Saturday 28th July four members of Evenwood road runners participated in the 32nd INTERNATIONAL SNOWDON RACE with a climb of 1085m to the summit. First to reach the summit in a time 1.06.21 was Darren Fairclough who also had time to take a number of pictures on the way up, on his decent back  to Llanberis he recorded a time of 34.55 giving he a completion time of 1.41.16 in a 194th position. Neil Douthwaite reached the summit in 1.07.26 and his return journey took him 40.08 giving him a finishing time of 1.47.14 and 270th position. Donna Douthwaite and Glynn Frith climbed to the summit at the same time to record a time of 1.24.43 but Donna was able to gain ground on the decent for a time of 47.52  and recording a total time of 2.12.34 in 430th place and Glynn returned back to Llanberis in 57.52 giving him a total time of 2.22.04 for 450th position out of 465 runners

Burn Valley and the Coastal Run 2007

On Saturday, July 7th five members from Evenwood road runners travelled to Yorkshire for the Burn valley half marathon. The first home over the challenging course was Ron Pounder in 1.43.37 for 84th position. Neil Douthwaite returned in a time of 1.45.04 in 91st place. Donna Douthwaite starting to pick up the pace again recorded a time of 1.59.00 in a 169th position. Phil Baxter completed the course in 201st position in 2.06 33. Glynn Frith did not enjoy the course but completed in a time of 2.22.22  with no position recorded from a field of 259 runners.


Evenwood road runners made their annual pilgrimage to Beadnell before running to Alnmouth in the Northumberland coastal event. First to return home over the 14 mile multi terrain course was Gary Atkinson in 1.32.18 in 54th position. Sean Glasper gained a personal best on this course and finished in a time of 1.40.30.in 125th place. Neil Douthwaite did not have the race to himself as he might have hoped as dark horse of the day Tony Hindmarch gave him food for thought Tony pulled away on the final beach and recorded a time of 1.42.23 in 152nd place and Neil in 1.43.46.in a 183rd spot. Andrew Laybourn produced a creditable time of 1.59.03.for 433rd position. Nicola Finch and Dawn Ord bravely endured their worst race to date but did well to see it through to the end for 2.42.44 and 2.42.46 for 780th and 781st placing. It was a battle for final position but super vet Geoffrey Alan Dickinson was not going to be out run for his 799th spot in a time of 2.58.26 from 800 runners.
