Alnmouth
Evenwood Road Runners made their annual pilgrimage to Beadnell for the 29th Northumberland Coastal Run on the 20th July. Running from Beadnell to Almouth Gary Atkinson brought the club home in an outstanding time of 1:22:11 for 14th position. Not to be under estimated was Tony Hindmarch who completed the course in 1:39:05 taking 127th place. Running to raise money for the Butterwick Hospice and so far raising £200 David Wilson had a good run and returned in 316th position in a time of 1:50:07. Donna Douthwaite recorded a new personal best to finish in 1:54:01 and taking 10 minutes of her last 14 mile race time to return home in 392nd position. Andrew Laybourn crossed the finishing line in 2:00:37 taking 504th place. Glynn Frith also gained a pb time on this course as he knocked 11mins of his previous course time and returned in 2:04:02 in 552nd position. Neil Douthwaite took up his coaching skills once again as he guided Gemma Dart over the 14 mile course as she ventured into new boundaries to cross the finish line in a time of 2:15:33 and 2:15:36 for 706th and 707th placing. Dawn Ord gained a personal best and recorded a time of 2:17:56 in 724th position. Alan Dickinson returns home in 790th place in a time of 2:36:06
International Snowdon Race 2008
On Saturday 26th July, four members took up the challenge to race the 33rd Mount Snowdon race under very hot conditions climbing up to 1085 meters, first to reach the summit in a time of 1:03:43 and to descent in a total time of 1:41:07 was Robert Mcloon in 181st position, returning for a second time the following three members did well to complete despite two of them getting injures on the descent ,sharply to follow was Neil Douthwaite on the ascent as he got there faster this year in a time of 1:05:16 and to the descent in 37:10 despite his injury on the way down to complete in a total time of 1:42:19 ,which was faster by 5 mins than last year in 198th place , next to reach the summit in a super time off 1:28:45 and despite the fall on the rocks on her descent in a time of 50:04 mins was Donna Douthwaite in a total time of 2:18:57 for 447 place, Glyn frith followed in his welsh foot steps as he got to the summit in a time of 1:24:18 and descent in 58:35 for 2:22:53 for 461st place out of 500 runners to complete the course.
