Snowdon Marathon
on Saturday 25th October three members from Evenwood Road Runners took up the challenge to run around Mount Snowdon in the 26th Snowdonia marathon. Despite the high winds, cold and wet weather been there ultimate challenge of getting around the 26.2 mile course that started with a six mile climb out of penny pass and the rest of the course been no easier but Neil Douthwaite was able to complete the course in a time of 3:53:39 taking 281st position next to return home was Donna Douthwaite in 591st place in a time of 4:17:33, Glynn Frith braved the cold and wet with very little to keep him warm and completed the course in 4:56:52 taking 929 th position,.
Maltby7 Mile
At the Maltby 7 mile road race on the 9th November Neil Douthwaite brought the club home in a time of 48:34 for 58th position next to followed in by his wife Donna in 53:03 mins for 116th pos and keeping it in the family daughter Sarah returned in 1hr and 12 sec for 186 position , it was a gut reaching run for John Tully but he completed the course in a time of 1hr 2mins 42 sec for 211 position out of a field of 243 runners.
Great North Run
On Saturday the 4th and 5th of October a member from Evenwood road runners and his two grandsons had a busy weekend at the mini great north run and the 13.1 mile great north run were Tony Hindmarch completed the course in a time of 1:37:15 for 1875th position. Joshua and Jonathan Kay completed the mini run and would wish to thank everyone who sponsored them for run, as they raised a total of £566.50 which will be shared between Cornerstone Christian Centre ,First steps - Parent & toddler group, Evenwood primary school, and Evenwood Christmas Lights ,thanks for the support from the local community and those who sponsored us from C.A Roofing ltd would like to say a big thank you.
Thirsk
On the 30th November four members from Evenwood Road Runners took part in the Thirsk 10 mile road race under freezing conditions but despite the cold Donna Douthwaite out sprinted Neil Douthwaite to the finishing post to record a time of 1hr18m19sec for 455th pos and Neil in joint time for 456th position, Sarah Douthwaite came 1st in her age cat for 1hr 32m52sec and 737 pos and despite a tripping some one up at the finishing post Glynn Frith was able to steel his time and postion for 1hr33m52sec for 739th pos.
